With so many options it can be hard to know which neighborhoods are family-friendly and most importantly, which ones will have the best candy. We’ve gathered some of our favorite must-visit trick-or-treating neighborhoods to make sure your Halloween is spooky-sweet.

Steiner Ranch

Steiner Ranch is a master-planned community and it’s semi-private and secure make it a great trick-or-treating destination for families wanting to avoid busy streets. Not only is its design family-friendly, master-planned communities typically have a higher density of families and children making it a great place to score candy. The community also hosts an annual Trunk-or-Treat, a block-party-style event featuring decked out cars to trick-or-treat from.

Hyde Park

Arguably one of Austin’s most walkable neighborhoods, Hyde Park’s central location offers vintage charm and pleasant, tree-lined streets making it a top trick-or-treating destination. Residents go all out with elaborate decorations and heaping bowls of candy, and its historic homes off the chance for a ghost sighting which helps kick up the spooky factor.

Located just west of Hyde Park, Rosewood’s suburb-in-the-city boasts an active and family-friendly community that is perfect for treat-or-treating. The pedestrian-friendly streets and tightly nit home lots make it an easy pick for your little ones looking to gather as much candy as possible.

Located north of downtown, Allandale is a neighborhood off the beaten path and densely populated with families. Its proximity to several schools and local businesses helps ensure its streets are well-lit making it an ideal place to trick-or-treat.
